Full Service Community School

The purpose of establishing the Vallejo Full Service Community Schools Program (VFSCS) is to ensure students have clear pathways from Preschool to college and career. The VFSCS program provides comprehensive academic, social, mental, and physical education services to meet student, family, and community needs. We are very excited about the resources and services we will be able to coordinate for our students.


Program's Goal and Objectives:

The goal of the Vallejo Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) is to improve student academic achievement and well-being through the offering of comprehensive high-quality services.  The following are the program's main objectives:

  • Improve student achievement (closing the achievement gap)

  • Improve student attendance

  • Reduce student referrals, suspensions, and expulsions

  • Increase student well-being in a range of health indices

  • Improve school campus safety

  • Increase parent involvement in their children's education


Glen Cove Elementary School's Community Collaborative -

Community members are a valuable component in providing services for our students and their families. The Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) values and appreciates these mutually beneficial relationships by helping to promote each organization at each of our events and within Glen Cove Elementary School & Vallejo City Unified Schools. Keeping our values in mind, the Glen Cove Elementary School Community Collaborative was formed. During meetings, group members collaborate to help identify programs and services that may benefit the students and families of Glen Cove Elementary School, and benefit organizations/members within the group.

Elsa Widenmann Dental Clinic

Free and low-cost services available to families, located at Elsa Widenmann School-Based Health Center. These services include:

  • dental exams
  • mouth x-rays
  • teeth cleanings
  • flouride varnishes
  • immunizations
  • health insurance enrollment
  • vision and hearing screenings
  • treatment of minor injuries and illnesses

Elsa Widenmann and Pennycook Pediatric Clinic

Free and low-cost services available to families, located at Pennycook Clinic and Elsa Widenmann Clinic. These services include:

  • complete physical exams for children ages 1-18 (pre-school, 1st grade, sports, etc.)
  • immunizations
  • treatment for minor illness/injury
  • dental screening
  • vision and hearing screening with referral
  • help enrolling in no-to low-cost insurance

 Family Resource Center

Fighting Back Partnership has three Family Resource Centers (FRC) in Vallejo, which are uniquely located in neighborhoods to serve families with children 0-18. The goal of the FRC is to offer local family support linkage and service to families in their own neighborhood by promoting healthy families in healthy communities. Services that are offered by the FRC are:

  • Home Visitation
  • Counseling services referrals
  • Opportunities for volunteering and community involvement
  • Parenting Education and Support
  • Children and Student engagement and support
  • Information, Referrals and Linkage to local services

bilingual translation Services

Vallejo City Unified School District provides written translation and oral interpretation services in Spanish and English between school staff and parents.

Hello Parents,

My name is Elvi Victa, one of 3 Parent Partnership Liaisons for the Vallejo City Unified School District.
