Full Service Community School

The purpose of establishing the Vallejo Full Service Community Schools Program (VFSCS) is to ensure students have clear pathways from Preschool to college and career. The VFSCS program provides comprehensive academic, social, mental, and physical education services to meet student, family, and community needs. We are very excited about the resources and services we will be able to coordinate for our students.


Program's Goal and Objectives:

The goal of the Vallejo Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) is to improve student academic achievement and well-being through the offering of comprehensive high-quality services.  The following are the program's main objectives:

  • Improve student achievement (closing the achievement gap)

  • Improve student attendance

  • Reduce student referrals, suspensions, and expulsions

  • Increase student well-being in a range of health indices

  • Improve school campus safety

  • Increase parent involvement in their children's education

Community resources

Elsa Widenmann Dental Clinic

Free and low-cost services available to families located at Elsa Widenmann School-Based Health Center. These services include:

  • dental exams
  • mouth x-rays
  • teeth cleanings
  • flouride varnishes
  • immunizations
  • health insurance enrollment
  • vision and hearing screenings
  • treatment of minor injuries and illnesses

Elsa Widenmann and Pennycook Pediatric Clinic

Free and low-cost services available to families, located at Pennycook Clinic and Elsa Widenmann Clinic. These services available:

  • complete physical exams for children ages 1-18 (pre-school, 1st grade, sports, etc.)
  • immunizations
  • treatment for minor illness/injury
  • dental screening
  • vision and hearing screening with referral
  • help enrolling in no-to low-cost insurance

Family Resource Center

Fighting Back Partnership has three Family Resource Centers (FRC) in Vallejo, which are uniquely located in neighborhoods to serve families with children 0-18. The goal of the FRC is to offer local family support linkage and service to families in their own neighborhood by promoting healthy families in healthy communities. Service that are offered by the FRC are:

  • home visitation
  • counseling services referrals
  • opportunities for volunteering and community involvement
  • parenting education and support
  • children and student engagement and support
  • information, referrals and linkage to local services
